Hi, I’m Mrs. McCormick and I could not be more excited to be teaching the young artists at Little Bennett. Our students bring a large variety of different backgrounds to the classroom, and what better way to express it than through art! Please follow along in our creative journey and encourage every child to be as creative as they can be! If you click on each grade level at the top, you’ll be directed to all the artwork that the grades have created!

A little about me…

I started teaching at Little Bennett Elementary during the 2014-2015 school year, my 9th school year as a teacher. I earned my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Art Education from Longwood University in 2006, then I got my Masters of Education in Special Education from Towson University in 2012. I started my teaching career at John F. Kennedy High School teaching Darkroom Photography for 3 years. Then I went to Damascus High School where I taught Digital Photography, Yearbook, and Internship for another 4 years. Then I had a year where I was split between 3 schools (Waters Landing Elementary, S. Christa McAuliffe Elementary, and Judith Resnik Elementary) where I taught Art. And now my feet have landed here in Clarksburg at Little Bennett! I will always dearly miss the high school students I taught, and some I still keep in touch with. But I am SO excited to see what new memories I create while teaching these little guys! The amount of excitement that I see Little Bennett students bring to the art room is so contagious. Their smiles put a smile on my face!

I have two sweet children and a loving husband. I don’t have as much time for personal art with a full time job and two young children, but since embarking on the elementary art career I have picked up the paintbrush way more than before! I love to DIY anything in the house, and I love re-doing old furniture! 🙂

I really do love all forms of art, but recently life has drawn me towards digital photography. I do part-time photography and recently I have photographed a few LBES families (both students and teachers).  You can view my website by going to www.laurenmccormickphoto.com.

If you have any suggestions for art projects or would like to help out in the art room, please contact me using the form below. Thanks and have an awesome day!
