Fifth grade students drew birds for their Kreative Kids artwork. I tweaked this lesson plan from Patty at Deep Space Sparkle. The first week students looked at handouts of how to draw birds, drew their birds in pencil and then sharpie. Week 2 I made them pick color schemes: either A) bird is warm colors and background is cool or B) bird is cool colors, background is warm colors. It was a quick project but fun because they learned about drawing from simple objects, drawing from observations, and using a fun medium – blending chalk pastels!
