Kindergartners learned about texture this week. In art, there are two types of texture – seeing and feeling texture. Texture that you can ACTUALLY FEEL, vs. texture that just LOOKS LIKE you can feel it. We read the book Corduroy by Don Freeman and then made these adorable Corduroys! This was a big lesson for the kindergartners because it pushed them to do a lot! They had to hold a crayon flat to do the texture rubbing, they had to cut on lines, they had to cut circles (believe it or not, that’s really very hard for 5 and 6 year olds! **Spoiler alert: they ROCKED at it!)), they had to fold and cut, they had to practice serious glue control… I mean this is a very, very detailed lesson.
Like I said, they rocked it. Check out these cuties!
