3rd Grade Moons

This was a project I just did with one 3rd grade class. I got the idea from this site…  I see them twice a week so sometimes we’ll just do some fun projects to keep them enjoying art! 🙂 First we folded a coffee filter in half, then in half again, and then in half AGAIN. They colored the filters with markers on both sides and sprayed them with water. Then they had to dry and the following week we cut out a black piece of paper for the moons to fit into. After they glued the paper inside, they could use sharpie to color spooky houses inside the moon, and then use oil pastels on the black paper to add details. I showed them a bunch of examples and how a black sillhouette of a Victorian house would make them look spooky! They had some great ideas and showed so much creativity with this project. I almost photographed them all! But it’s my lunch and they want me to go take them up to them real quick so they can take them home today! So without further adieu…
